so, my next post not in the weekend... but anywasy, monday should be good enought.
this thime i have the wip for the picture i'm currently working on from the beginnin to the current state of progress.
so lets start:
first step: basic scetch and composition. sartet this on a very low resolution of aprox. 600 pixels wide and 300 high. I layed down the basic forms and shapes, scetched around like crazy. with the red marks there i defined the point's of interrest ( i'll call them only P.o.i later ) and wrot in some ideas for the mood
second step: started to render the first ideas for the tones
number 3: the final one for the tones. as you may see, i moved the mountain a bit more into the center, and the place whats now the base of a city is moved a little bit to the left out side. thas just for making the picture more readyble in the end. the eye should walk a path between the 3 parts, and a little more space gives him a nice travel :P
4: after i feel confident with the tones, composition and p.o.i's i try out the colorsheme i want. i made different approaches for it ( but only managed to save the one i finally used.. -.-" stupid me ) so well, thats the one i want. a dusk / dawn like atmosphere with a strong light on the right part, and dark colors left. the reason for this: the light will enlgiht the valley, which will make nice effects on the planned city. the dark mountains behind will bring it more into fokus. the orc will be very dark cause the lightsource is diectly behind him that will give a nice balance between light and dark and a nice play i guess. haven't tried it bevor but seemed kinda nice.
5: now the harder work beginns: i made a new document with the final size of the pic ( 3000 pix wide ) and reworked an drefined the scetch. i placed the former concept under an empty layxer, teduced its opacity down to 20 and scetched over it with a fine pencillike brush.
6 and the point i'm at now:
after the scetch was done, i startet painti over it. made a new layer above the scetch, set it to multiply and blocked in the colors. i watched some references from dusk skye ( some fotos an a few real dusks of cause, luckylie it was 6 am and i could see it life! yay ). i followed the tonescetch and colorscetch i did before an well. thats it. now there will be much rendering, mire blogging, etc. hope i you like the little tutorial here and enjoyed it.
never forget; Paintin' till dæth!
